Father’s Day Projects

Father’s Day is fast approaching so here is a card and couple of gifts you can make for your DAD….great items for children to make and you all know those handmade gifts are the most memorable!  So here we go:

This first card is from Pocketful of Sunshine.    What makes this card fun is that the pocket actually works and is easy for you or a young crafter to make.  Simply cut out and bend tabs back and glue on.  There are stamps  and dies in the set to embellish the pocket further..some of which are shown below. The pocket can hold a gift card and there is room inside the card for your special message.    The Pocketful of Sunshine set is adaptable to many occasions and not limited to gender.

The Paper used is primarily from the Coffee Break Designer Paper  which retires May 31st so order it fast.  Soft Sea Foam  and Old Olive cardstock  is from the new catalog premiering June 1st. I will update the link on the 1st.

You can order the Pocketful of Sunshine bundle at 10% off until May 31st.   After that the discount goes away.   And remember, the Coffee Break Designer Paper will retire on May 31st.

Next, the Silver Mini Gable Box  is a quick and simple project that can hold a treasure or treat for Dad or anyone else you have in mind.  The box has been embellished with the Coffee Break Designer Paper and the tree came from the Rooted in Nature Bundle which will be available June 1st in the new catalog.  (Will update link at that time.)

The sentiment comes from the Manly Moments sayings in the May, 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit but if you are not a subscriber you can substitute with stamps from other sets.  This is another great gift that can easily be made by young and old alike.

To make this item:

  • Cut a piece of solid cardstock or print (your choice) 2″ x 12″ .
  • Wrap around box and glue down.
  • The tree foliage was dabbed with both Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce ink pads then lightly spritzed to give a highlighted-realistic effect and stamped on whisper white cardstock.
    • With tree die, cut out the tree and one extra.  Glue both cuts together for strength then affix to box.
  • Stamp Sentiment and cut out with Stitched Oval die.

This Post-It-Note Holder makes a great gift, is handy and looks good enough to be on a desk.  Doesn’ take much time to make…it is mostly cutting time.  Many of the pieces are straight cuts and embellishing can be to your liking.

Here is how you make it:

  • Cut the base from solid cardstock  5.50″ x 4.25″
  • Cut another piece of cardstock in a complimentary color 10.50″ x 4″
    • Score at 3.25″ and 5.25″
      • Fold in half and you should have the  3.25″ piece at the top of front (reference picture)
      •  Glue 5.25″ side to base
  • On front of holder cut two pieces of solid cardstock
    • One, 3.75″ x 3″  for the bottom and a second,  3.75″ x 1.75″ for the top
      • Cut two additional pieces of print cardstock to layer
        • One, 3.50″ x 2.75″ and one 3.50″ x 1.50″
        • Glue and layer the pieces and adhere to front corresponding spots (reference picture)
  • Cut solid cardstock for sentiment  1″ x 2.75″and cut a second complimentary layer 1/4″ smaller
  • Embellish bottom with desired image  Se used  in picture is High Tide.

If you are adding a pencil or pen, cut a piece of print cardstock .50″ x 1.50″.  Wrap around pen loosely and glue ends together to make a loop.  Glue down to backpiece and glue sticky note pad over it.  (I was able to pick up some small pens at the dollar bin at Target.)
